B.A.R.S. New Members Invitation Cards
In April, 100 postcards (pictured right) were mailed to new hams around the Bullitt County and Louisville area to introduce our club and invite them to join us. Those joining the club will receive the remainer of this year's dues free with the payment of 2009 dues. Three new members joined at Field Day. This offer is also extended on KY4KY.com whereby anyone can print out the card and bring it to the club for the same offer. We hope this will encourage new hams to drop by, see what we're all about, and hopefully join us in the fun.
Mobile Emergency Communications Signs
New designs were submitted and it was agreed upon that "simpler is better." So it's back to the drawing board. We'll try again at the August meeting.
Field Day Report
Thanks to the 40 folks who participated in Field Day. We ran 2F this year and estimate our total score was 4254 with a total of 2127 QSOs. Thanks to Glen KE4KY for operating CW. We also thank the handlers and dogs of the Jefferson County Search Dog Association for joining us.
September Picnic & Foxhunt
Our Annual Picnic & Foxhunt will be at Noon on Saturday, September 20 at the top of Benheim Forest near the lookout tower. BARS will supply the burgers and bratwurst. We ask that everyone bring a pot luck dish to share. Please email
with the dish you are brining so we can be sure we won't have 14 green bean casseroles.
Special Club Events Station
It's been a while since we've had a Special Events Station. Let's think about some ideas. We will need about 3 months leadtime to get it promoted in QST.
Red Cross 10k Run Revisited
At our July meeting, Stu Kratz WX4ME gave us the details on all those who helped with communication during the run. In my reporting, however, I left him off the list and he was the one who organized the club' participation. Sorry Stu! I have that corrected now. -Bob
